"So far, so good. Prefer to jet boil flash
Minimal use, but so far so good. Definitely faster than my jet boil flash and the two cheapy amazon jet boil clones I own. And far, far better in the wind. Sits a bit tall. Opted for the personal stove vs duo since I'm normally solo. But...wish the 1.8L pot was a cheaper price to own for the occasional times I'd use it.
Suggested improvements that would have brought it to a 5 star review: An integrate piezo sparker. A slightly more sturdier, thicker walled cup/bowl with an insulating coozy (made my own coozy). A shorter overall height if there's a possibility to shrink it down. Same volume container, but flatter and wider to fit in a bigger fuel cannister for longer trips."
2.Review from Customer "Bird":
"I've used this system since a 900 mile section on the PCT in 2016, and it's been with me ever since. I've used this stove for over 7,000 miles without any issue. It is bomb proof. Although the price has gone up over the years, if you want a true and tested system that doesn't fail, and is a huge saver on fuel, look no further than the MSR Windburner stove system. While those "ultra light" can argue all they want, their 'systems' have no where the durability this system has. And furthermore, windy conditions have no affect on it. From a thru hiker with thousands of miles under their belt, this is a piece of gear that will last longer than your will to keep hiking."
3.Review from Customer "Ryan":
"I had a jetboil for a very short period until the coozie insulation just fell apart. Upgraded to this and it’s a much more solid build. The insulation is stronger, feels a little looser after a few hikes now but not bad and maybe a little PTSD from the JB.
The heat is quick and will easily burn food. The downside is it’s not super adjustable, it’s either going hard or the flame burns out. I love it for boiling and coffee, but not so much cooking actual food in.
It’s also not non stick.
Overall I’m super happy with it and prefer it over a pocket rocket or similar but that’s mainly because I like the French press and love having good coffee on a hike."

"This personal system is lightweight, durable, reliable, and efficient. It's clear that MSR is the industry leader across all expedition gear categories and functions flawlessly in situations that might be the difference between success or failure. The cook systems are long-lasting and flaw-free. Go get one for your next adventure, be it Moto or bike camping, backpacking, climbing or water adventures."
5.Review from Customer "Jolyon":
"Stove was excellent for about 20 boils, then tripped out and would not light. Obscure entry in instructions (when back at home) showed how to re-set. Another 20 boils and the clear pot at the bottom of the stove stuck fast. After that it needed to be wrestled off with a pen knife.. Another 10 boils later (in the Scottish wilderness) the stove tripped-out again. This time it would not re-set. So no stove in the middle of nowhere with just freeze-dried meals (which I could not heat up so were inedible) and energy bars. These two design flaws are serious and MSR needs to attend to them. To their credit, having sent it back to MSR, they have confirmed the manufacturing error on the failure to ignite. They have not supplied a replacement and the retailer, while offering a refund, does not stock the stove any more and will not replace. And prices have gone up significantly and to replace it will leave me well out of pocket. So, if you have a WindBurner, beware and do take a spare stove (dare I say it, a (nice and simple) Pocket Rocket?). It could be the difference between hot food and no hot food."

"After having used this stove for a few years now I feel I can make a qualified assessment. Simply put, it is a really good to great integrated stove system. It's been reliable in many situations and conditions. I've spilled liquids directly onto the burner screen several times now and after a quick dry-off it goes back to performing flawlessly. Works well at various elevations (10k + ft). I sometimes use it at work to cook up a quick lunch. My favorite feature is the windscreen that does a fantastic job keeping the flame focused on heating/boiling the water. Works beautifully when wind picks up in the exposed backcountry areas. A couple items on the stove that I do wish had more of a thoughtful design: the lid and handle. The lid is a bit difficult to secure on the pot. It doesn't clearly snap or seal as securely as I would like and am never sure if it is totally on the pot or not (critical when pouring hot liquids). The handle is "okay" but is too floppy and not rigid enough to keep one's fingers away from the pot when pouring. My stove has been through a lot and I don't baby it what so ever, which I love. Given the somewhat minor issues I have with this stove I would still buy it again!"
7.Review from Customer "MtotheS":
"I originally bought the MSR over the jetboil because I liked the reputation of the company, they seem very transparent in their manufacturing, materials sourcing, and commitment to their employees. I figured like everything these days it would last a year or so and when it died I would try a jetboil in order to make a good comparison. Now it’s 3.5 years later and after beating the heck out of the thing and using it hundreds of times, it’s still working perfectly and just won’t die. No material defects or dysfunctions at all. Boils water super fast. I just can’t complain about anything."

"I’ve had this stove for a few years now and absolutely love it. I’ve used an msr Simmerlite forever, loved that stove too. But this pulled away. Quick boil, compact packing, coffee press, canister fuel, all reasons I love this stove. Always dependable, highly recommended."
9.Review from Customer "Jim Uncaged":
"Been using this stove for well over a year now and, as others have mentioned, it is fast! I also very much like the windscreen effect the direct coupling of the pot and burner provide, but the stove can be blown out in a strong wind before the pot is in place.
I do find it easy to light, but difficult to light without getting "nipped" by it using a regular BIC lighter.
My sole complaint is the almost worthless "bowl" on the bottom. The only it's really good for is holding the fuel cap, lighter, etc. If you put anything hot in the bowl, the flimsy plastic wilts unless you also attach the lid. Even with the lid to hold its shape, a cup of coffee of coffee will burn your bare hand...if you're willing to trust the lid not to pop off and collapse the bowl.
Overall, I like it despite the shortcomings. It's just frustrating that the bowl does not feel safe for anything hot and I still need to take up space in my pack for a proper insulated coffee mug."
10.Review from Customer "James":
"The Windburner boils water fast no matter what altitude or temperature. I enjoy minimalist backpacking and camping in many different conditions, and this always comes with and always performs. It is compact, lightweight, and conservative with fuel. At sea level, it boils at a rate of 1 cup per minute. A full 4 cups takes 4 minutes. I did find that cooking food in the Windburner tends to burn some of the food and creates a difficult cleanup. As an alternative to excessive cleaning, I pair this with a double wall insulated food canister from Miir. I place my dry meal in the food canister, boil water with the Windburner, and then add boiling water to my Miir food canister, seal the lid, shake, and wait about 15 mins. This gives me time to set up my tent, sleep system, and clean myself up a bit before enjoying a warm meal. For cleanup, I boil a bit more water, add to the food canister, seal, and shake. I use the canister to store temperature sensitive foods like a bit of chocolate too. When car camping, I bring a couple insulated howlers and fill with boiling water in the morning to be used for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Ten minutes and I have 64 oz of piping hot water. I am always impressed/surprised with the number of times I can use a fuel canister. My backpacking buddies love it too! They never bring a kitchen, just a food canister. Easy to use, compact, lightweight. If you are a backpacker, this stove is a must."
