Where It All Began
A Night When Staying Warm Wasn't Possible
A winter night. A tent. A fever. This is where POMOLY truly began.
One winter night in 2018, POMOLY founder Ryker was camping alone in the snow-covered mountains. It was far from his first winter camping trip. That night, the temperature dropped to -10°C (14°F).
He woke inside his tent to a cold that felt far beyond ordinary discomfort—a deep chill that seemed to cut through his sleeping bag and reach all the way to his bones. He put on every layer he had, climbed back into his sleeping bag, and even used his now-empty backpack as an extra cover. Still, he could not get warm enough to sleep.
That night, he never truly warmed up. When he returned home, he fell ill.
After he recovered, one question stayed with him:
Why have shelter and warmth always been treated as two separate things outdoors?
A tent could protect you from wind and snow. But staying warm meant making a separate fire—or simply enduring the cold and waiting for morning.
That question became the starting point for everything that followed.
He began searching for a different possibility—to bring shelter and warmth together, so that even in the cold outdoors, people could have a space that was truly warm.
POMOLY's Growth & Trust
From One Person's Question to the Trust of Many
From the beginning, POMOLY has focused on solving real problems in real outdoor environments. We started by designing, making, and using hot tents and wood stoves for cold-weather camping.
For people who depend on their gear outdoors, reliability is more than a promise. It means a stove continues to burn when temperatures fall well below freezing. It means a tent continues to provide dependable protection through heavy snow and harsh weather.
We began taking our gear into real winter conditions again and again. In freezing temperatures, heavy snow, strong winds, and extended stays outdoors, materials, structures, stoves, and small details revealed the problems that truly mattered.
So we kept modifying, testing, and using them again.
Because we understood early on that the true value of outdoor gear is not how well it performs under ideal conditions, but whether it remains reliable when you actually need it.
That reliability, proven through repeated use in the real world, gradually earned recognition from the outdoor community. Through firsthand experience and word of mouth, POMOLY began earning the trust of more and more people outdoors.
A question born on one winter night eventually became something much bigger than one person's problem. It set POMOLY on a path to becoming a brand that outdoor enthusiasts remember, trust, and willingly recommend.
What POMOLY Represents
Shelter. Fire. Living.
A tent provides shelter. A wood stove brings warmth.
When the two come together in the same space, the outdoors is no longer simply an environment to withstand. It becomes a place where you can stay.
Years of designing, making, and using outdoor gear have taught us something important: the value of gear is not only in what each piece can do on its own, but in the experience they can create when they work together.
A tent provides shelter—a space to rest and stay. A wood stove brings heat and fire, creating a center for warmth, cooking, and gathering.
When shelter and fire come together under one roof, cooking, warming up, resting, and everyday living can naturally happen in the same space.
Over time, Shelter, Fire, and Living became three fundamental elements of how POMOLY understands the outdoor experience.
This shift—from equipment to experience—has shaped the foundation of POMOLY today. It continues to influence how we design products and how we think about living outdoors.
How POMOLY Is Evolving
From Hot Tenting to Livable Camping
As Shelter, Fire, and Living became central to the POMOLY outdoor experience, our understanding of camping began to evolve.
As our products developed, we began exploring how tents and wood stoves could work together, gradually building a complete Hot Tenting System.
Through years of real-world use, we began to see that when these pieces of gear work together, they change more than the equipment itself—they change how people experience and spend time outdoors.
People can cook, make coffee, organize their gear, and continue enjoying their own time even when rain or snow moves in.
So we began paying closer attention to the real situations and experiences of hot tent camping—how people carry their gear, set up their tents, use their stoves, make use of the space, and spend their time once they arrive.
We gradually realized that Hot Tenting is more than a combination of a tent and a stove. It is an outdoor experience built around staying, living, and making the most of your time outside.
Our focus gradually shifted from simply asking, “How do we make better gear?” to asking, “How can we help people have a better camping experience and a better way to live outdoors?”
We call this approach Livable Camping.
It is not a fixed style of camping. It is our way of understanding outdoor living: bringing gear, space, and the way people use them together more naturally, so that the time spent after arriving becomes just as worth looking forward to.
Forge Your Basecamp
From Livable Basecamp to Outdoor Home
As POMOLY developed its own understanding of camping, another question emerged:
If this experience can happen again and again, what kind of outdoor space can it become?
When campers set up their tent and build a fire, a Basecamp begins to take shape.
From there, people head out to fish, hike, gather firewood, and explore the surrounding landscape. At the end of the day, they return to cook, rest, and spend time in their own way.
This rhythm of setting out, exploring, and returning is at the heart of the Basecamp experience.
As we continued exploring Livable Camping, we began to rethink what a Basecamp could be.
For POMOLY, a Basecamp should be more than a temporary place to set up camp. It should be comfortable enough, and flexible enough, to truly hold the time people spend outdoors.
We call this a Livable Basecamp.
As more elements of everyday life enter the outdoors, people begin to spend their time in their own way.
Someone brings home the day's catch and cooks it at camp. Someone gathers firewood and makes coffee beside the fire. Someone else simply sits quietly inside the tent, watching the weather slowly change.
When a Basecamp is used again and again, it begins to feel familiar.
You know where things belong. You know how you like to arrange the space. You begin to understand the weather, the wind, and the rhythm of the place.
With each return, it becomes more than a temporary outpost. It begins to hold your habits, your routines, and your memories. It begins to feel like home.
That sense of familiarity, comfort, and belonging is what POMOLY means by Outdoor Home.
POMOLY Today & Tomorrow
Exploring More Possibilities for Life Outdoors
Everything began with a night when Ryker could not stay warm.
Today, Ryker is still outdoors. He is still exploring, and he still camps through the coldest nights of winter.
The difference is that now, he can sleep through a cold winter night with confidence, knowing he can stay warm.
At the same time, as our products have evolved and the situations in which they are used have expanded, so has our focus. We have moved from individual pieces of gear to integrated Hot Tenting systems, and further toward Basecamp and the experience of living outdoors.
Today, POMOLY is no longer limited to Hot Tents and Tent Stoves. We are looking beyond individual products to explore richer outdoor experiences built around Basecamp and outdoor living.
Through this journey, Livable Camping has become an approach to camping shaped by years of real-world experience, while Livable Basecamp is the outdoor space that grows from it.
And this will continue to guide POMOLY as we explore more possibilities for staying, living, and spending meaningful time outdoors.
We believe the wilderness is not simply a place to escape everyday life for a while.
It can also be a place to stay, to live, to create, and to leave lasting memories.
This is the story of POMOLY.
