"Plenty of room for a full or queen and a twin size mattress, with room for clothing bags and to move around. Plenty of head room for our height (5'5") without hitting our heads on the lantern we hung from the peak of the tent ceiling . If you don't like to be packed in like sausages but do like to sleep side by side, without air mattresses, this tent would sleep 5-6 comfortably. My husband and I like a lot of room as we usually camp for a extended period. We bought this tent for the two of us with just the two air mattresses. It's not as big as the Montana 8 person tent but the extra room is lost in this tent with the screened in porch, which we really like. The extra bug protection and place to take off dirty shoes and clothes is a nice addition. It would be nice if the rain fly covered the screened in porch, it doesn't. That would also offer some additional privacy. Two adults or three children could sleep on the porch I suppose.
The first tent we bought "new", wasn't. Staining on one of the side panels and the rainfly appeared to have holes in it. It didn't rain so I don't know if it leaks. We returned it to Coleman as it was outside the Amazon return period. Coleman was great! I had to crawl into the tent after it was taken down to get the lot and model numbers, and send them a picture of what appears to be holes in the rainfly but other than that it all went very smoothly. They no longer manufacture this tent so I was offered something different but chose the refund (which did not include the shipping and tax I paid Amazon). Great customer service after waiting on hold for an hour. I then went back to Amazon to purchase the same tent again. We really like the layout, size, air flow (4 windows, the top and part of the sides of the tent are mesh and let in limited air flow even with the rainfly on) and dark room technology.
The side panels are lighter color than the rest of the tent, so the dark room technology is great if you sleep on a taller platform, i e. tall air mattress or your back starring at the ceiling and not on your side starring at the lighter side wall. That said, the dark room technology is pretty cool. Much, much darker than the Coleman Montana tent.
All this being said, our second new tent arrived, it has some of the same looking lighter spots, holes on the rainfly. Maybe there is less pigmentation in those areas? Not sure what it is. But both tents have it. We again, haven't camped in the rain. I may run water over the tent to see if it leaks. I really hope they aren't holes as we would like to keep this tent. I would give it 5 stars if I wasn't concerned about the rainfly issue."

"I don’t know how making a tent darker keeps t cooler during the daytime, but it does. I was highly skeptical about that particular feature, but we’ve used it twice for a week at a time and it really did keep it cooler than the other tents without it.
The space is well designed, rain fly worked great, and with the upgraded heavy duty tent spikes we purchased (separately) it held up through 3 nights of thunderstorms and wind gusts up 60 mph.
Highly recommended!"

"My husband and I love this tent! We were skeptical about having the dark room technology and figured it was going to be super hot. For context, we went camping in Florida during a heat wave. The tent was super cool compared to the other people we went camping with who had normal tents. If you wanted to stay in the tent during the day, it wasn’t a miserable temperature to be in. It did not rain to talk about it being waterproof but from the material I think it would have done fine. I do wish the screened in porch was as tall as the inside of the tent but other than that I love it. Ps. I didn’t purchase from this specific vendor but I have the same tent!"

"Tent had no directions other than what is on bag and are extremely vague and no help with "extra" pole and rainfly. Tent is not truly dark - barely reduced light. Very disappointed with this buy. Also, rain water pools in tent."

"This tent is great for ease of set up and packing it up after and very usable however most of the seams leaked water even with the rain cover on it. Causing everything we had in the tent to get wet except for stuff in the center. Other than water issues I have zero complaints with the tent."

"I have been camping regularly since 2020 and this is my 3rd tent but first Coleman. 1st thing I noticed was the step up in quality. I was able to put this tent up by myself for the first time in less than an hour but the fly was trial and error. I also noticed I pinhole in the fly as well as some die blemishes I will be addressing with the manufacturer. They need a pic of numbers in the tent. Darkroom Technology."

"While the tent itself is great. Easy to set up, I was able to set it up by myself in about 20 mins. Only bad things I don't like about the tent is only the add on top and windows are dark room technically. The bottom half of the tent is not so you still get sun coming in on the bottom half under the windows. 2nd thing I don't like is the back of the tent is a open screen pretty much so the only way you can have privacy to change your cloths is to put the top on the tent and when it's 90 degrees outside who wants to put the top on the tent?"

"I’ll be honest, I didn’t have much hope for a “dark room tent” to actually be dark, but.. I was pleasantly suprised. Back story : this was our first camping trip with our 1 year old who sleeps in a cool dark room (blacked out) with a sound machine. Considering all this, I was slightly nervous for how she would do sleeping while camping. I was so happy to come across a “dark room tent” never had heard of it prior to preparing for this camping trip. So we purchased, as I mentioned before, I didn’t have much hope. But, it did a fairly well job. I wouldn’t say it’s black out. Not even close to black out. However, compared to a typical tent, this tent was significantly darker. Our little one did not wake up until 10 am, regardless of the tent light up a bit from the sun. I was amazed! Anyway, if you’re worried about your little ones sleep while camping, I would recommend trying this one out! You might be suprised as well!"

Selecting the ideal tent can significantly impact your camping experience, and the Coleman Carlsbad 8 Person Dark Room Dome Tent is designed to meet high expectations for both comfort and convenience.
