Is it safe to use a titanium stove in a hot tent?

Jun 2, 2020
Many people are hesitant about the safety of using titanium tent stoves in hot tents. We can first understand the nature of titanium to explain. Titanite was first discovered in 1791 in Cornwall, England by William Gregor, an amateur mineralogist. However, it was very difficult to mine and smelt titanium under the technical conditions at that time, so it was not gradually developed and applied until the middle of the 20th century. Titanium is an important structural metal. For a long time, many countries mainly used titanium in aerospace and military fields. After entering the new century, titanium civil products industry began to develop rapidly, which mainly benefited from the characteristics of titanium.

Therefore, titanium is used in the medical field to make artificial bones and heart stents. With its good damping resistance, it can also be used to make the vibration components of ultrasonic crusher.

Oxidability

Titanium metal will continuously oxidize in the air to form a titanium oxide film, which can inhibit the growth of bacteria. When used on food or medicine containers, it can make the containers have better fresh-keeping ability. When titanium is heated at high temperature, the thickness of oxide film on the surface will increase, and different thickness will make the surface of titanium present different colors. We observe this magical change when cooking with titanium kitchenware.

Corrosion resistance, acid resistance.

Titanium itself is a very active metal, but it will form a layer of dense, strong adhesion, inert oxide film on the surface in the oxygenated environment, even in the presence of aqua regia, it will not be corroded. This layer of oxidation will regenerate quickly after mechanical wear, making titanium a real environmental protection material.

High temperature resistance

The melting point of titanium is up to 1668 ℃. The titanium alloy can be used at 600 ℃ for a long time without deformation. Therefore, it is widely used in the field of aerospace.

Light weight, high specific strength.

The density of titanium is 4.51g/cm, lower than that of iron, steel and other metals. But titanium is stronger than these metals. This makes titanium products lighter and stronger. It's used to make the kitchenware we carry when camping, which can make the kitchenware more light and durable.

No heavy metal precipitation.

Traditional stainless steel adds many heavy metal elements to keep its rust free characteristics. Long-term use of stainless steel cooking utensils will enrich the heavy metals in our body. Titanium is free of heavy metal impurities, so it is safer and healthier to use titanium kitchenware.

Based on our research on these properties of titanium plate and many tests, we finally decided to use this material in our POMOLY titanium wood stove.

What are the advantages of titanium wood stove compared with stainless steel hot tent stove and iron tent stove?
The disadvantage of iron wood stove is that it will rust. And the iron will deform in the environment of high temperature for a long time. Stainless steel wood stove solves these two problems, it will neither rust nor deform easily. But the weight of stainless steel stove is heavy, which is not convenient to carry. Our titanium tent stove not only has the characteristics of no rust, but also has higher strength and lighter weight than stainless steel tent wood stove. Titanium wood stove pipe can be rolled into a short section of titanium pipe when not in use, which saves the space of backpack for us.

Through the above content, we can learn that it is safe to use titanium tentstove in the hot tent, and it’s more convenient to use than the traditional tent wood stove. When camping out, you often need to keep warm, cook delicious food or make a cup of hot coffee. At this time, a good titanium tent wood stove can be your excellent assistant.
