1.Review from Customer "pati":

"Better than Soto windmaster so far
Strangely, it's the opposite for me—compared to what everyone else is reporting about those two stoves
Soto windmaster experience (after a 14 day trip and some additional weekend trips this year):
- the igniter didn't work once, even after five or six tries - the lowest I tried was at around 7000ft
- the on-off valve feels flimsy and has not enough resistance while turning
- Because my Toaks 650ml pot is closer to the fire and the heat/flames are reaching up on the side walls, I was always concerned about burning myself or my dog
- its a little annoying to put the three/ 4 arms on it every day
- It's also not easy to slide the arms on and off or close them for storage. I even hurt myself once on the sharp edges
The Pocket Rocket, in comparison, has none of the above issues so far (only a two-day and 3-night trip):
- the igniter worked the first time every time - even around 11,000 feet
- the valve doesn't feel flimsy while turning it on and off
- the flames don't go around as far, and I'm not afraid to burn myself when checking if the water is already boiling
-the arms are attached and fold easily once you're used to it
I was very surprised but so far, I like it a lot better than the Windmaster.
The only downside is that it doesn't fit into my 650 ml Toaks pot—unlike the Windmaster (barely).
Maybe it also performs a bit worse in wind than the windmaster. At least according to some Youtube reviews.
Honestly, I could not feel a huge difference and even had the feeling that the flame is more stable on the pocket rocket than the windmaster. But this is only my opinion after one weekend.
Of course, I can't report on durability or reliability."

2.Review from Customer "Elk G.":

"I like this set. Wonderfully durable and well used on my wilderness hitches. Has everything I need for big and small meals, coffee, tea, and everything between. Perfect for solo and with a friend too!
Only small two issues. The Pocket Rocket Deluxe doesn't quite fit with an 8oz can of IsoPro so the lid doesn't sit as snug. I tried fitting it and folding it but to no avail. The pot should be a quarter inch deeper. Not a huge ergonomics issue as the mesh bag holds everything right together.
The slightly bigger issue is the rubber insulated grip on the pot. It slides down as the pot heats up. That could be a problem if it melts. Doesn't happen everytime but has happened more than once. I think a small lip in the pot design would prevent it.
Other than these two small issues, I am perfectly happy and supremely satisfied with the function of this kit. Works exactly as I need and haven't had a major problem. Definitely would suggest to purchase to a friend or coworker."

3.Review from Customer "MECstaffer":

"Overall this little (under 100g!) stove is amazing. Stable. Quick boil. Reliable flame. Great simmer control. Handy ignition switch. Reasonable price. And so small!
Considering the size/weight it boils quickly and is surprisingly stable. I recently put this to the test using a full 2L pot on my last couple backpacking trips. It boiled water in under 5 minutes (1800-2200m) with morning temps around 7-8 degrees celsius. The new design does actually help to keep the flame going in windy conditions but I still use a shield to mitigate the risk of a blow out. It cools quickly, stores easily in its own little bag and is durable enough to serve as a primary backpacking stove even for a family.
If you don't mind the extra weight there is an option to add the LowDown remote stove adapter which provides a wider more stable base and a hose that allows you to connect the fuel canister from a distance (away from the flame).
I've heard the igniter is not reliable however I've found that if you light it before you place the pot on top and ensure its more than a trickle of gas flow it works well.
MSR has done an excellent job providing an ultralight option without sacrificing quality.

Highly recommend this stove for weight/size conscious people."

4.Review from Customer "Rarik":

"I have it for about 3 years now, not too too much use, but it gets to cook my food on backpacking trips, hotel stays and front country as an extra burner. This summer piezo died ( I would say 100 - 150 strikes tough it's life... def not claimed 10000 :D), it moves a little up so spark cannot be generated. Not a biggie as you shouldn't rely on it, but I would love to be able to take off the stove completely so I do not carry these useless few grams of weight. Piezo aside ( nice option but not why I got this stove) the Delux is better then PR2 in any way. My PR2 now lives in the car as an emergency option.
The main pros - bigger burner head, better wind protection (prob best you can get in this class of stoves), regulator ( it did in fact made a difference using almost empty canister giving steady flame all the way until nothing is left).
There is one huge advantage of PR2 tho... considering how expensive ISO canister got recently, the fact that PR2 has no regulator and can be safely used with green 1lb propane is a decent cost saving option :D. Propane has much higher pressure so Delux regulator will prob be toasted.
Get delux if you do not care about extra cost, other then that PR2 will do exactly same job.
Either way - MSR is always my first choice. Amazing company, best support, high qualify gear that is so awesome I sometimes use it just for fun."

5.Review from Customer "Calvin":

"As the spec says; windproof works well at gentle breeze and that is good enough.
It is a big bigger that the older model, but works better with bigger pots on.
The built-in regulator works well in cold temp and even though it wastes some extra gas, it is very helpful and reliable at snow camping and day trip.
The soft pouch is way better than hard plastic box.
One thing can be improved that the tripod support is not strong enough for heavy load. Once i had issue with my Reactor burner, so i put the Reactor pot (1.7L) on this PR Deluxe, and the tripod was tilting sideway and was not stable, so i had to hold the pot the whole time."

6.Review from Customer "KatrinaP":

"Good all around, but not better than Soto
Quick comparison between the Pocket Rocket Deluxe and Soto Windmaster (I own this Pocket Rocket Deluxe, plus the Soto Windmaster). I like that the Pocket Rocket has all of its components attached, but I feel that the Soto beats this stove in other aspects. Performance of the Pocket Rocket was pretty similar with boil times, but it’s LOUD.
Soto will last 90 mins on an 8oz canister, while this Pocket Rocket only lasts 60 mins. That’s a huge difference!! The pot supports on the Pocket Rocket don’t allow the pot to get as close to the flame compared to the Soto. I also have never been a fan of only 3 supports compared to 4 supports. I like that the Soto has 4 supports, and while I do kind of wish the Soto supports were integrated into the whole stove, I do appreciate the option to switch to the ultralight supports if I ever need to cut weight on a thru hike.

The Pocket Rocket packs down a little smaller though, if that is of concern to you."

7.Review from Customer "Joe G.":

"I've been using the stove exclusively in my lowland adventures for about 9 months now. I've paired it with a 500ml titanium Toaks cup for most of it and can recommend you get a 750ml pot so you can fit a small fuel canister in the cup as well. Just use a buffer before grabbing the cup handles or you'll glaze your skin.
Cons:
-You'll lose a lot of heat to wind if you don't use some sort of wind buffer.
-Had a boil over and the piezo ignition got wet and stopped working until dry. I always carry a Bic in my emergency kit so no big deal.
Pros:
-This little guy does work! I was camping in a fire lookout a couple weekends ago and the expected low was -2 degrees Fahrenheit. you know, cold enough that I had to heat my fuel canister with warm water to get it to work. I also
had to melt snow into water for a friend and I and decided to bring the MSR 2.5L pot so I could get a good amount going at once. Most of my snow melting is normally done with a MSR reactor, but I wanted to test this little guy
out, and boy was I impressed. The increased surface area of the pot (over my cup I normally use) and the jet engine they made for a burner made quick work of that snow.
10/10 will pack again.
- light weight
- compact"

8.Review from Customer "Ray B.":

"An excellent small LIGHT stove. Did yeoman service on a quick two night backpack trip to the Mission Mountains. Outstanding job cooking and a darn good job helping to get the coffee going!
Overall this stove is an awesome piece of equipment. The only minor complaint-wish it had 4 pot supports instead of three.
Worked well in a light wind and chilly temps. I recommend this stove in the shop I work at, mostly to the detriment of other styles of canister stoves.
I am a “volume” packer-meaning space is filled with things that fit easily and are compactable-This stove fills several cooking niches for me so fits my style well. Weight wise it is a gram counters dream! I’m not one to get too twisted around weight-I like my amenities-this stove helps to justify them.
No photos this time… maybe next time"

9.Review from Customer "Young C.":

"I've recently came across an opportunity to upgrade my old Jetboil Zip system to MSR Pocketrocket Deluxe as it was on sale. My experience comes from car camping, backpacking trips and testing at home.
PRO:
Compact (3.3" x 1.5")
Lightweight (83g)
Pressure regulated
Piezo igniter
CON:
Expensive (will need to buy and build a cooking set)
Reliability of igniter
I am currently trying and building my cookset with titanium bowls and fans. It will be an expensive cookset overall but hopefully it lasts a lifetime of my outdoor adventure.
My adventure buddy has MSR Pocktrocket Deluxe and I've noticed that the igniter does not at time when it's wet or cold. So don't rely on the igniter alone and always bring a lighter as a backup."

10.Review from Customer "Jimboblay":

"As advertised and very well thought out. The burner lights easily and is powerful. The pot kit is likewise well thought out and provides good functionality for one or two people. I did buy a cannister support to improve stability, but on a flat surface this really isn't needed unless using a larger pot than the one that comes with the package. Add a couple of sporks and a lightweight insulated cup with measurements (both available from REI) and you are good to go."
